Leonardo was my grandfather. He immigrated to New York, N.Y., USA in 1907. He married Maria Antonia Sabbio, also from Avigliano, Italia on 12 December 1907 in New Yor{< City. They settled into an apartment in New York City and had 9 Children (including my father, Bemadino Santarsiero) and 18 grandchildren. His wife Maria died in 1939 and he never remanied. He was a factory worker but had a leg amputated due to diabetes and went to work in a candy store afterwards. Although we lived in the same apartment building, my only real memory of him (I was 4 when he died) was going to see him in the candy store and getting big hugs and kiss and a piece of candy. In the mid 1950's he moved into his eldest daughter's house in Lodi New Jersey where he died. He had the wa:rtest smile, and I loved him very much.
